| "Nehemiah..." |
(c) Nicki Black
Nehemiah is one of my favorite books. Reading back over my notes, I reflect upon chapters 4-7:
1. Do not lose faith in the work God has appointed me to do. Persevere. 4:6
2. Stand guard over your work. Stay on the watch. 4:11-14
3. Have people watch your back.. e.g., intercessors, prophets. You should never go into the harvest field alone. You always need to protection and covering of prayer and strength from the Word.
4. Take care of those less fortunate than you. Do not take advantage of them in any way. 5:6-12
5. Guard yourself against false accusations and traps of those trying to defile your character.
6. In that, pray for God to "strengthen your hands". 6:9
7. Nehemiah finished rebuilding the wall and God was pleased. He relied on God to see him through the large task. He was steadfast.
8. Test and examine the messages of "self-proclaimed" messengers of God and those who come in sheep's clothing. Do they stand up with God's Word? 6:10
9. Pray for our leaders and prophets. They are prime targets for attack. Lift them up daily. 6:10-13
10. Don't let the size of the task daunt you. Forge ahead. Get it done, no matter how long it takes. God will remain faithful to us, even in our weak times.
11. Follow through with the tasks, even after they are completed. Take care of all that God has entrusted to us. 7:3 |
